TRANSMITTING FROM THE END OF THE FEED
NO POWER.
STILL
POSTING.
Britain has a blackout plan.
We have a posting problem.
The backup plan
has a backup poster.
All that technology.
Back to a radio.
A Politics UK post describes “Black Sky” contingency planning: emergency broadcasts if major power or water services fail. The underlying BBC reporting describes a radio operation designed to keep going without normal internet connections.
The story is about preparedness, not a prediction of an imminent blackout. Our fictional sequel asks a different question: what happens to people who cannot stop posting?
SUBJECT 001 / THE LAST POSTERNothing works.
He has thoughts.
His phone is dead. His tea is cold.
His ability to have an opinion remains fully operational.
Meet the Last Poster. A bathrobe. A battery radio. An unreasonable commitment to keeping the bit alive.
The feed died.
The bit didn’t.
Different station. Same civilisation.
Turn the dial. See who’s still talking.
“The internet is down.
Unfortunately, I still have opinions.”
THE WORLD CAN
GO OFFLINE.
WE’LL MAKE IT WEIRD.
From a dead router to a dead timeline.
Same reaction. New transmission.
What’s your
last post?
One message for whoever’s still listening.
Make it profound. Or spectacularly unnecessary.
NO POWER. STILL POSTING.
